How this all came about.

I am a stay at home Mum and keen food gardener from Balfour, in rural Southland. I have a particular fondness for homegrown tomatoes but I enjoy growing everything from tasty purple Asparagus to the prolific and delicious Costata Romanesco Zucchini.

This all started when I decided to have a crack at growing extra vege seedlings to sell at local fairs and fetes. People enjoyed seeing the variety of seedlings, most of which you wouldn't have a hope of finding in the local garden centre.

For some time now I have been looking for a way to do a little good in the greater community. This season I decided to grow extra produce to donate to the local food bank and if I could get others on board it would be even better. Growing one extra seedling is all it would take, be it a pumpkin, zucchini, tomato or even a few extra potato or carrot seeds thrown in the end of a row.
